Bertheau Chambolle Musigny Les Charmes 2016
Bertheau Chambolle Musigny Les Charmes 2016
93 Points - A View From The Cellar
"François Bertheau’s example of les Charmes is one of the finest in the village in my experience, as this quite large premier cru can vary a bit in terms of absolute quality depending on where one’s vines are located in the vineyard. The 2016 from Domaine Bertheau is an outstanding wine, delivering a great, sappy constellation of black cherries, red plums, cocoa, pungent notes of violets, chalky soil tones and a very deft framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with plenty of mid-palate sappiness coupled with lovely soil tones. The finish is focused, balanced and suavely-tannic, with lovely lift, complexity and grip. This is a velvety wine that will be tempting to drink on the early side, but I would try to keep my hands off of it for at least eight to ten years and really let it blossom completely!"
